This resource suite supports the implementation of mainstream flexible working arrangements across the VPS.

There are two items:

  • a core document, Mainstreaming Flexibility Across the VPS – Guiding Principles, and
  • a supplementary resource, Mainstreaming Flexibility Across the VPS – Implementation Toolkit.

Guiding Principles sets the overall tone, providing a brief overview of what it means to introduce flexible arrangements into the workplace. With a view to helping agencies craft policies in this space, it outlines the principles that inform flexible working, and the broad steps required for relevant individuals to make it happen.

The Implementation Toolkit provides a series of templates, checklists and standard words that should, in particular, assist HR practitioners as they manage whatever change programs may be required to implement flexible working across their agencies. These materials are very ‘hands on,’ covering topics like drafting a proposal for flexible working and practical tips for managers. It is hoped it will make the process of developing agency guides and forms just a little easier.

It supports the “All Roles Flex” recommendation from the VSB announced in December 2016.
