People Matter Survey events a great success

We held two People Matter Survey learning seminars in August. We received a fantastic response from both audiences.

Our Deputy Commissioner, Julia Griffith, joined HR people from across the sector at a seminar in Melbourne on 20 August.

And the Commissioner, Paul Grimes, attended our regional seminar in Bendigo on 29 August.

At both events, Natasha Thompson, an Executive Director in the Commission, talked about sector-level survey results. We will share those results in the 2018–2019 State of the Public Sector in Victoria report.

Expert speakers explained how to create mentally healthy workplaces. The Bendigo audience also learned how to motivate employees through great leadership.

The audiences at both events left with proven strategies to apply in their organisations. These strategies will help organisations respond to their People Matter Survey results.

Staff from the Workforce and Engagement branch of the Commission also joined the Bendigo event. They came along to talk about Barring Djinang, Getting to work and Careers.Vic.

These free events are part of a pilot series of People Matter Survey activities.

We hope to cover more topics next year. And we plan to visit more regions across Victoria

Free learning seminars for People Matter Survey action planning

Kickstart your results-based action planning at a free learning event.

Find out how to tackle issues raised by your survey results, such as work-related stress and how to communicate organisation strategy.

On 20 August in Melbourne, you’ll learn how to support employees in times of high stress. Register for the Melbourne event.

On 29 August in Bendigo, you’ll learn how to manage workplace stress and make your organisation strategy meaningful for employees. Register for the Bendigo event.

These seminars are part of a pilot program and are free for 2019.

In 2020, we’ll expand the Leading Well program with seminars in all major regions on a range of topics.

People Matter Survey Practitioner Network

The network met on 13 June to go through the new results reports and share tips on understanding results. Check out the webinar.

The next meeting on 14 August will focus on using your results for action planning.

The People Matter Survey 2019 is now closed and results reports will be out soon.

The new 2019 results reports are more user-friendly to help your organisation interpret your data and decide what actions to take.

We will be hosting events in Melbourne and Bendigo in August to present on:

  • sector and regional results
  • sector and regional trends
  • how organisations can act on their results.

In 2020, the survey will have a brand new technology platform. The new system will provide a better experience for participants and more self-service options for pulse surveys and custom reporting.

People Matter Survey 2019 — it’s time to have your say

The People Matter Survey 2019 is coming to you soon.

So have your say and help create positive change in your workplace.

Look out for posters or speak to your survey coordinator to find out when you’ll be doing the survey.

We’ve made some changes to the survey in 2019 including:

  • revised questions to better capture information on issues that affect your work life
  • simpler and clearer language
  • defined key terminology
  • questions are generally shorter.

If you can’t complete the survey in one sitting, you can pause and restart at any point.

New Data-Collection Statement highlights privacy protections

We want you to have full confidence that when you do the People Matter Survey, we protect your privacy.

So we created a new People Matter Survey Data-Collection Statement that outlines:

  • why we conduct the survey
  • what data we collect
  • how we collect, store and use your data
  • how we protect your anonymity

We’ve put lots of safeguards in place so your responses stay anonymous including

We will:

  • separate survey responses from any identifying data
  • not provide organisations with individual survey responses
  • not provide reports for organisations or groups with fewer than 10 responses

The People Matter Survey process is officially underway for 2019!

We’ve had a great response to the 2019 People Matter Survey so far. There are 197 organisations taking part.

The 2019 survey marks the first phase of the People Matter Survey Reform Project.

This reform project will mean an improved and simplified question set that covers new areas of insight. We’ll capture valuable data on issues like sexual harassment, diversity, change management and learning.

We ran 4 information sessions for survey coordinators in March, where we answered questions on survey processes and the reform project.

This year, the team was able to widen its reach by running 3 of the sessions as webinars: a big help to those survey coordinators who couldn’t make it to the face-to-face session.

Feedback on the sessions was good and participating organisations are ready to have their say.
