Performance Management Myths and Facts for the Victorian Public Service is a compilation of common Victorian Public Service myths and facts surrounding performance management for non-executive employees.

Occasionally misunderstood and often maligned, performance management is a series of formal and informal processes designed to make sure that the individual, team and organisation achieve their goals in the most efficient and effective way.

The resource covers the performance management process from planning and provision of feedback to the performance review. It is not intended to provide specific instruction on managing under performance.

The performance management process is a tool to foster a genuine partnership between line managers and their employees. At its most effective, the process engages, develops and rewards contributions made in support of an organisation’s mission and values.
