A new approach to capability development in the VPS
As public servants we need to have the right capabilities to serve Victorians, now and in the future.
Launched by the Secretary of the Department of Premier and Cabinet and the VPSC Commissioner at the end of 2024, Victorian Public Service secretaries are investing in a new approach to public service capability development over the next four years, as set out in the 2025 Capability Development Statement.
The Victorian Public Sector Commission is leading this work delivering training, events, support hubs with a focus on developing the core public service craft capabilities. These include:
- working in government
- integrity
- leadership and management
- understanding and applying the Public Sector Values.
The first suite of resources is now available, including the Working in government hub and the first round of training and events on the Innovation Network.
