- 21.1% of public sector respondents experienced high to severe stress, down from 23.9% in 2023
- 23.5% of Victorian Public Service respondents experienced high to severe stress, down from 25.3% in 2023

Safety climate
57.5% of public sector respondents agreed their organisation and leaders support their psychological and physical safety. This is up from 55.9% in 2023.
Employee engagement
Employee engagement rose to 68.6 out of 100 for public sector respondents from 67.6 out of 100 in 2023.
Work-related stress
Work-related stress describes an employee’s stress response to work-related factors.
Most jobs involve some level of stress.
Moderate stress can improve performance and resilience. However, high levels of stress can:
- make it harder to think clearly and make decisions
- increase absenteeism and burnout
- impact workforce productivity.

Employee engagement index
The employee engagement index is a weighted score out of 100.
A high employee engagement rating indicates employees are enthusiastic, motivated by and committed to their work.
