The Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) and Victorian Public Sector Commission are the key advisers to government on executive employment and remuneration matters.

VPSC provides advice on executive employment and publishes resources to support executives and employers. DPC provides advice on, and oversight of, executive remuneration via the Office of Public Sector Executive Remuneration (OPSER).

Victorian Public Service (VPS) Executive Officers are employed under Part 3 of the Public Administration Act 2004. Other public sector executives are employed by public entities.

The management of executive contracts, remuneration and employment matters differs between the public service and public entities. Specific details are included on their respective pages and in related resources.

VPS Executive Officers are employed under the provisions of Part 3, Division 5 of the Public Administration Act 2004. VPSC provides advice and resources to support executive employment.
